This position is a senior technical resource responsible for delivering the appropriate enterprise-level reference architectures that support the vision for defining innovative solutions, leveraging new technologies and designing and architecting solutions meeting business goals. The Sr. Enterprise Architect provides guidance for the principles, policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards to create and/or maintain the company’s technical environment. The Sr. Enterprise Architect will have broad technology knowledge yet be comfortable interacting on day-to-day activities with team members at all levels. This person will be expected to influence, educate, and empower all levels of the organization

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Provide technical leadership for specifying, designing, implementing, testing, accrediting, deploying, and sustaining enterprise system and service architectures in a distributed, net-centric environment.

·         Leverage company policies, architectural frameworks, and commercial best practices to design and develop Architectures that satisfy enterprise scale requirements.

·         Create and maintain enterprise-wide reference architectures that includes the applicable documentation and diagrams to effectively illustrate the different layers of the technology stack including the software, hardware, and communications.

·         Create, maintain and/or assist with enterprise-level principles, policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and other artifacts that support the enterprise reference architecture.

·         Lead other architects (network, data, application, etc.) in decomposing an enterprise architecture into the appropriate components and services for analysis, design, implementation, testing, accreditation, deployment, and sustainment.

·         Responsible for working with senior IT leadership around the overall enterprise vision, roadmap, and implementation strategy.

·         Presents alternative solutions to customer and senior leadership in solving a specific business problem or enabling customer value.

·         Identification and Documentation of as-is and to-be architectures.

·         Participation in the creation and maintenance of product and technology Roadmaps.

·         Support development of new standards, stated directions, and guidelines.

·         Provide thorough architecture documentation of all solutions, including application to customer technical requirements, and customer expectations to help ensure successful implementation.

·         Maintain deep technical and business knowledge of relevant technology stacks, security, cloud computing, industry direction, and trends.

·         Serves as a top level technical or functional expert for the enterprise.

·         Performs highly specialized technical tasks associated with cutting-edge technologies.

·         Assists with assessments and provides recommendations on new technologies and techniques.

·         Applies expert functional knowledge and experience to significant business projects or processes.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS ESSENTIAL TO THE POSITION:

·         Strong knowledge and extensive experience with enterprise architecture best practices and goals

·         Knowledge of best practices and experience with IT operations in an always-up, always-available service.

·         Provides thought leadership and direction to peers and teams in the IT organization as they review what work to prioritize in order to create new workflow and re-engineer existing capabilities to be delivered.

·         Provides support to ensure problems are resolved in an expedient manner.

·         Work with management and practitioners, IT staff, partners, and vendors to ensure maximum utilization of all IT resources.

·         Keeps management fully informed of all activities and problems within area of responsibility.

REQUIREMENTS OR SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

·         Must possess an extensive knowledge (5+ years) of enterprise architecture.

·         Successfully operated in complex IT environments where use of modern, public cloud-based technologies (including PaaS/SaaS architectures) were common.  Use of Azure preferred.
