AS400 Programmer/Operations Analyst

As an AS400 RPG Programmer/Operations Analyst you will be the primary support resource for our client’s AS400 environment which hosts a custom contract and rebate system. It is a 40 hour a week role, where you will be responsible for this system from both an Operations - EDI support (20% of your time) and Development - analysis, development, fixing issues, support (80% of your time) perspective. RPG programming/maintenance and EDI processing support as well as AS400 operations support will be required. The AS400 hosting is outsourced so much of the platform support is provided as part of that outsourcing agreement. While some remote work is possible, it is expected that the candidate will work on-site until an acceptable level of both customer and system familiarity is achieved. Responsibilities: · Managing a Contract Management application on the AS400, including analyzing requirements, functional design, and architectural design documents to determine coding needed from generalized business and functional requirements. · Daily processing and operations of the above. · EDI · Analyze and modify existing application code and discern and interpret complex business requirements. · Develop/modify code that includes maintenance and bug fixes. · Design, create, and maintain unit test plans and run unit testing to find errors and confirm program meets specifications. · Debug code and perform application testing of modifications. · Track defects from code reviews and testing. · Provide alternate technical solutions to solve problems. · Participate and take a lead role in project team meetings and test plan walk throughs. · Provide status updates on tasks and projects to team members. · Use Service Now to track incidents and change requests. · Communicate with vendor to ensure backups are being performed. · Manage DASD usage. · Apply application updates for 3rd party software. Required Skills: · 7 years of programming experience with IBM iSeries (AS/400) application development. · 7 years of programming experience with RPG III, RPGIV, RPG Free and CLs. · Operations experience with AS400 including an understanding of IFS and FTP experience. · Experience working with DB2 and SQL (plus) databases including a solid understanding of database models. · Solid understanding of and experience with SQL language. · Solid understanding of EDI processing and operations. · Solid understanding of Journal logs and receivers. · EDI mapping experience is a plus. · .NET and Visual Basic is a plus. · Familiarity with the iSeries version of Lansa; Lansa i (strong plus). · Ability to meet deadlines and deliver high quality software. · Ability to work independently and in a team environment. · Ability to interact with others outside of IT including end users. · Good analytical, written, and verbal skills. · Ability to function with minimal guidance; quick learner, willing to adapt to environment. · Must be organized, a self-starter and be able to work independently.
